The most important...

Personal rule I follow for my Costa Rica wildlife photography is simple: their comfort comes before my photo.

This biodiverse paradise deserves respectful visitors. I keep a generous distance with longer lenses and if a bird, insect or animal shows any sign of stress, I back away immediately. Sometimes that means walking past a beautiful opportunity without pressing the shutter. And I’ve learned that’s okay.

The reward is photos that feel honest and alive.

Natural behaviors, beautiful light, moments that feel shared rather than taken. This personal mindset has deepened my connection to the wild and made my images more meaningful. It’s how I’ve built trust over time here and beyond.

The jungle gives us so much when we show up with respect and gratitude.
