People often ask...

What the most exciting bird I’ve photographed in Costa Rica is. My answer usually surprises them.

It’s often the “ordinary” ones. The great kiskadee with its bold yellow belly and loud call. The snowy egret gliding low over the lagoon. The yellow throated toucans and aracaris lounging together like old friends.

These are the birds I see almost every day, yet they never stop moving me.

Real wonder isn’t reserved for the rare or dramatic. It lives in the everyday if we’re willing to really see it. Photographing these "ordinary birds" with love has become one of the most joyful parts of my wildlife photography work in Costa Rica. They’ve taught me to celebrate what’s right in front of me every single day.
