The best photos i've ever taken...

Happened when I completely forgot I was a photographer. I set out with my camera one morning and somewhere along the trail I got so lost in the moment. The sound of cicadas, the way light moved through leaves, the quiet rhythm of my own breathing. Realizing I was calm instead of overthinking. I stopped thinking about composition, settings, or “getting the shot.”When I finally remembered the camera was in my hands, the images that followed came effortlessly. They felt alive because I had already been fully alive before I started photographing the things I saw.

This practice of intentional forgetting has become one of my favorite ways to photograph in Costa Rica. I leave the pressure at home and simply show up as a curious human first, photographer second. The jungle always rewards that order.

It’s also spilled into the rest of my life. The more I practice forgetting to perform, the more present and joyful I become.
